Peter Shuler is a generalist business lawyer. He combines breadth and depth of transactional, counseling and dispute resolution experience in all aspects of law, with nearly four decades in quasi-governmental, corporate and private legal practices. His expertise includes international, domestic and foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate matters, contracts, banking and finance, information technology and telecommunications.
Recent assignments include:
- assisting overseas buyers with acquisitions of an electrical goods supply chain operation, a travel agency business, a packaging operation and a bath and kitchen wares manufacturer and distributor in Thailand;
- advising Thai sellers of a consumer finance business, an electronics manufacturing and marketing operation and a service apartment project to foreign investors;
- assisting a Thai developer with a major condominium and resort project;
- assisting mobile telephone services with expansion of their network systems and their financings;
- drafting and negotiating a Thai bank's financings of resort development and airport services supplier;
- assisting Thai companies with general corporate and contracting matters;
- assisting foreign businesses establish and obtain licensing for Thai operations; and
- assisting clients obtain visas and work permits for foreign staff
Peter's experience as a lawyer is coupled with service as a senior corporate executive in banks as well as board memberships in listed and private companies in Thailand, the US; Korea; Hong Kong; the Philippines; Jersey, Channel Islands; British Virgin Islands; and the Cayman Islands.
Between 1980 and 1996, Peter was general counsel to Arab Banking Corporation, the Arab world's largest publicly held bank, subsequently serving as Executive Vice President for Support Services (chief operations officer) for ABC's Hong Kong subsidiary, before relocating to Siam Premier in 1998.
His board experiences include service as audit committee chairman and independent director of a SET listed company and director of a Thai bank, as well as the boards of numerous closely held finance companies, investment companies, mutual funds and other business concerns in Thailand and overseas.
Peter holds both JD and MBA degrees from Columbia University, New York, and a BA (Hons) from Indiana University. He is a member of the International Bar Association, American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Long active in civic affairs and charities, Peter's recognition includes listings in Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in Asia. |
